What “remanufactured” means here
Every remanufactured Fabco unit we sell is torn down completely, cleaned and inspected, rebuilt with genuine Fabco components, and bench-tested before it ships — then covered by our one year, unlimited mileage warranty. It installs exactly like the new unit: same mounts, same shafts, same nameplate data. We never patch a failure and repaint it; a rebuild here is a full remanufacture.

Rebuilt transfer case cost — straight answers
Can a transfer case be rebuilt? Yes — heavy-duty transfer cases are built to be remanufactured. Cases, shafts and housings are reusable almost indefinitely; gears, bearings, seals and sliding clutches are replaced or remachined to spec during the rebuild.
How much does it cost to rebuild or replace a heavy-truck transfer case? For Fabco heavy-duty units, remanufactured exchange units run $5,450 to $39,995 depending on model and configuration — most common builds fall between $13,995 and $25,995. The same units factory-new run roughly $9,995 to $50,295. Core deposits of $4,500–$7,500 are fully refundable when you return your old unit. (Light-duty pickup and SUV transfer cases are a different market and cost far less — the figures here are for vocational and heavy trucks.)
What’s the difference between “rebuilt” and “remanufactured”? In this shop, nothing — every unit gets the full remanufacture: complete teardown, inspection, genuine parts, bench test. We use both words because customers do.
